Tomatoes

Turn any sandwich into a masterpiece

Nothing compares to the flavor of Homegrown Tomatoes from our Farm to Your Table – Taste the Difference!!

There’s nothing quite like a homegrown tomato —sweet, juicy, and bursting with garden-fresh flavor.

Our tomatoes thrive in the sandy soils along the Muskingum River Banks, resulting in a robust flavor and slightly higher acid content that packs a punch. Juicy and red to the core, they make the perfect addition to your summer sandwiches. We begin harvesting our homegrown tomatoes around July 1st, but until then, we offer delicious Tennessee tomatoes.   For those seeking a sweeter, low-acid option, we also grow yellow tomatoes. And let’s not forget about fried green tomatoes—no summer is complete without them!

Calling all tomato lovers….Enjoy your tomatoes at their best!

Our Witten family recommendation?

Keep your tomatoes at room temperature. Do NOT put your tomatoes in the refrigerator! It will make them mealy and tasteless.

SALT your tomatoes….. Salting your tomatoes 3-5 minutes before enjoying brings out the amazing flavors and juices.

High tunnel tomatoes

High Tunnel

In the last 10 years, high tunnels have become a vital tool in helping us achieve the highest-quality tomatoes, all while meeting our strict production standards. By blocking excess moisture, high tunnels protect our tomato plants from fungus and disease. To learn more about our high tunnel click Read More below.

High tunnels are a modern approach to growing tomatoes, now being adopted worldwide. This method allows us to grow more on fewer acres, resulting in beautiful, flavorful produce. While the structure resembles a greenhouse, it’s lighter and more mobile, with sides and ends that roll up for natural airflow. In this system, tomatoes are planted directly in the soil, and drip irrigation targets water precisely at the roots, minimizing waste. The benefits for farmers include healthier plants, longer growing seasons, and more delicious tomatoes for you to enjoy!  Though more expensive and labor-intensive, this method ultimately produces the best, most flavorful tomatoes by focusing on the quality of the soil, where the magic truly happens.
